National Navigator Award (Bronze or Silver)......
We are a provider of the Bronze and Silver levels of the National Navigator Award Scheme. The NNAS is an internationally recognised measure of personal performance in navigation with the aim of giving people the confidence to get out in the countryside.
This is a two day course that will equip you for a lifetime of adventures in the hills and mountains or Britain and beyond. The NNAS courses are a great way to learn all of the basics while at the same time getting an assessment based internationally recognised certificate in navigation. These National Navigator Award courses will be ran as either a Bronze or Silver depending on the level of experience of the group.
Maps, scales and grid references Relating ground to map and map to ground Measuring distances and timing

Navigation can seem to many to be some kind of a dark art that is to be feared. We know this preconception and will work with you to show you the basic concepts and methods that will get you going in the right direction to develop your skills on your own.
This one day course is aimed at total or relative beginners that would like to start out on their navigation journey. All the basic skills and techniques will be progressively introduced and by the end you will be well on your way to gaining mountain independence. There really is nothing better than the feeling that comes navigating effectively in the hills and mountains. So what are you waiting for?
Aimed at people with a decent grasp of the the basics who are looking to improve. It may be that you need to brush up on estimating distance, or relocation techniques or that contour interpretation baffle you. If you are looking to improve then you are looking in the right place.
Do you already have some map reading experience? Maybe you have navigated only using digital technology. This one day course is designed for the intermediate navigator who has a grasp of the basics but would like to take their navigation to the next level. Maybe you need some help on map scales or help brushing up on your contour interpretation. Maybe your compass work isn't up to scratch or maybe you would like to work on your timing.
The ability to navigate effectively at night, in thick fog or Winter whiteout is the ultimate test of your skills. This course is only suitable for people with good navigation skills and mountain experience. When the art of poor visibility navigation is mastered, it will pay dividends when the elements are against you.
This is a 4-5 hour course designed for people who have a good grasp of the principles of navigation and a solid base of experience navigating in the hills. It refines the skills that are required to navigate in poor visibility. Whether that is at night, in fog or even winter whiteout. When you can confidently and efficiently navigate in the dark, you have truly earned your mountain independence and you can look forward to a lifetime of experiences in the hills and mountains.
